The Vancouver Canucks are nearing a deal with unrestricted free agent forward Micheal Ferland, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Ferland, 27, is coming off a 17-goal, 40-point season with the Carolina Hurricanes — his second consecutive campaign with 40-plus points — and is due for a raise from his $1.75-million cap hit.
The winger spent the first four seasons of his NHL career with the Calgary Flames, and according to Sportsnet’s Luke Fox there had been some buzz about the possibility of a return there.
