The Vancouver Canucks have granted goalie Jacob Markstrom a leave of absence to attend his father’s memorial service, the team announced Monday.

Markstrom, 29, revealed in an Instagram post last month that his father had lost a battle with cancer.

In a corresponding move, 2017 third-round pick Michael DiPietro has been recalled from the AHL’s Utica Comets.

The goalie prospect has posted a 7-4-1 record, a 2.44 GAA and a 0.913 save percentage across 13 games during his first pro season with the Canucks’ AHL affiliate.
