Canucks’ Micheal Ferland ruled unfit to play for remainder of series vs. Wild

Vancouver Canucks forward Micheal Ferland has been ruled unfit to play for the remainder of Vancouver’s series against the Minnesota Wild, the team announced Wednesday.

Ferland has returned home, according to the Canucks, and will be re-evaluated following the series.

News of Ferland’s designation comes shortly after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported he would be leaving the NHL hub site due to injury.

No specifics on the nature of his injury have emerged at this time.

Ferland played just four shifts, totaling 2:36 of ice time in the Canucks’ Game 2 win against the Minnesota Wild.

In Game 1 of the series, the forward was fined $5,000 by the NHL for spearing Ryan Hartman on the Wild bench.

The 28-year-old has yet to register a point in the Canucks’ Qualifier Series. In the regular season, he scored one goal and added four assists in 14 games.

The Canucks and Wild are tied 1-1 in their best-of-five series.
