The Washington Capitals have acquired defenceman Nick Jensen and a 2019 fifth-round pick from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for blue-liner Madison Bowey and a 2020 second-rounder.

Jensen, 28, has two goals and 15 points in 60 games this season, averaging 20:48 minutes of ice time. The 2009 fifth-round pick is in the final year of a two-year, $1.625-million he signed in February 2017.

Bowey, a Capitals 2013 second-round pick, has played in 84 games for Washington over the last two seasons. The 23-year-old defenceman has 18 points and 62 penalty minutes in the NHL.

Friday’s trade is the second the Capitals have made in as many days, bringing in forward Carl Hagelin from the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.
