The Washington Capitals will be without centre Nicklas Backstrom for Game 6 against the Pittsburgh Penguins due to an upper-body injury.

Backstrom suffered the injury in Game 5 and missed the end of the game because of it. He was spotted walking into PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh with his hand wrapped in a bandage.

Rookie Nathan Walker will replace Backstrom in the lineup, becoming the first Australian-born player to skate in a playoff game.

In 11 playoff games, Backstrom has three goals and 13 points, including eight points on the power play. The Capitals lead the series 3-2 and are trying to advance to the conference finals for the first time since 1998.
