Capitals sign centre Nic Dowd to one-year contract

The Washington Capitals have signed centre Nic Dowd to a one-year contract, valued at $650,000.

Dowd, 28, split last season between the Vancouver Canucks and L.A. Kings.

In 56 games he had one goal and four points.
