Capitals’ Tom Wilson suspended 2 games for hit on Robert Thomas

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been suspended for two pre-season games after a late hit on Robert Thomas of the St. Louis Blues on Friday.

The hit came less than six minutes into the third period after Thomas crossed his own blue line. Thomas lost control of the puck and was crushed into the boards nearly two seconds later by Wilson.

Thomas’s linemate Dmitrij Jaskin jumped in to fight Wilson, who wasn’t penalized for the check.

Wilson has never been suspended in his NHL career, but has been fined twice.
