Coyotes’ Oliver Ekman-Larsson suffers lower-body injury vs. Kings

Oliver Ekman-Larsson left the Coyotes vs. Kings game after a knee-on-knee collision with Dustin Brown.

Arizona Coyotes captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson left Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings with a lower-body injury.

Ekman-Larsson suffered the injury midway through the second period after a knee-on-knee collision with the Kings’ Dustin Brown. The Swedish defenceman finished his shift but then went to the dressing room and didn’t return.

If the injury is long term it would create a large hole on the blue line for the Coyotes — who are one of five teams fighting for playoff positioning in the top-heavy Pacific Division.

Ekman-Larsson leads Coyotes defencemen in ice-time with over 23 minutes and has six goals and 22 points in 52 games.
