Coyotes’ Taylor Hall hasn’t ‘closed the book’ on signing before July 1

Tim and Sid look at Taylor Hall being traded by the Devils to the Coyotes, a former first-overall pick with a Hart Trophy.

Now that Taylor Hall has landed with the Arizona Coyotes, there is already chatter regarding where Hall will sign should he test free agency.

A lot can change over the next several months, of course, but Hall – who is a pending unrestricted free agent – is open to all possibilities.

“I’ve been open-minded with everything this year,” Hall said on a conference call on Monday. “I haven’t closed the book on signing with any team prior to July 1. Talking to [Coyotes GM] John Chayka, that’s something we can discuss as time goes on.”

“I think both sides are really comfortable with just playing and just letting the contract stuff sort itself out. Really, that’s not what I’m focused on. I just want to come and help win games and get to the playoffs and do some damage there.”

Hall, 28, is one of four pending UFAs on the Coyotes roster, per CapFriendly. His current deal carries an AAV of $6 million, with the New Jersey Devils retaining half of that cap hit.

The former Hart Trophy winner has recorded six goals and 19 assists in 30 games so far this season.
