Taylor Hall said two minutes wasn’t enough punishment for Ryan Garbutt, and the Edmonton Oilers star might get his wish.
The Dallas Stars forward will have a supplementary discipline hearing Thursday with the NHL’s department of player safety to discuss his knee-on-knee hit on Hall.
Midway through the second period of the Oilers’ 3-2 loss to the Stars Tuesday in Edmonton, Garbutt caught Hall’s knee and was dealt a minor penalty for tripping.
Hall, who only recently return from an MCL sprain, remained in the game.
“I know guys that know him, and he’s not that kind of player,” Hall told Sportsnet’s Gene Principe after the game. “I moved at the last second, and he kinda hit me right on the knee, but my knee’s fine.
“I would’ve liked to see more than a two-minute call, but that’s at the ref’s discretion.”
The 29-year-old Garbutt is a repeat offender. He served a five-game suspension for charging Dustin Penner back in October 2013 and was given a $1,474.36 fine for spearing Corey Perry on April 2014.
