Devils ink newly-acquired forward Nikita Gusev to two-year deal

The New Jersey Devils continue to load up heading into the 2019-20 season.

After drafting Jack Hughes first-overall in the 2019 NHL Draft and adding established stars P.K. Subban and Wayne Simmonds to the mix thus far this summer, GM Ray Shero traded for KHL standout Nikita Gusev Monday. Immediately afterwards, the club announced they’ve signed Gusev to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $4.5 million.

Gusev has been a dominant force in the top Russian league — he posted a league-leading 82 points through 62 games last season, his third straight campaign abouve 60 points.

The 27-year-old was originally drafted 202nd overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2012.
