New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes will not play against the New York Islanders on Thursday night and is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury, according to Devils team reporter Amanda Stein.

Hughes did not take part in the Devils’ line rushes during morning skate but did do some drills and was on the ice, as per Chris Ryan of NJ.com

Hughes missed part of Tuesday’s win over the Boston Bruins after getting hit into the boards before returning to scoring the shootout winner.

“He tried hard. He wants to be in the lineup every night, but right now, it just doesn’t make sense,” Devils head coach Alain Nasreddine told reporters after practice. “So we’ll be careful.”
