Jack Hughes will be out of the lineup when his New Jersey Devils face the New York Rangers Saturday, marking the first time he’ll miss a game in his young career.
Hughes suffered a lower-body injury when he blocked a shot in Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens and missed Friday’s practice because of it.

The 2019 first-overall pick has four goals and 11 points in 24 games this season.
Kevin Rooney will draw back into the lineup in place of Hughes. Rooney had missed the past seven games with an upper-body injury.
