Ducks sign Antoine Vermette to two-year deal

Brad Richardson scored twice and Antoine Vermette had the game winner Friday night as the Arizona Coyotes beat the Calgary Flames 4-1, snapping a 10-game road winless skid.

Two weeks after being bought out by the Arizona Coyotes, centreman Antoine Vermette has landed in Anaheim.

The Ducks signed Vermette to a two-year deal on Monday, and announced the signing via Twitter.

According to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register, the contract is worth $3.5 million.

Vermette, 34, was bought out by the Coyotes to give the young squad “more flexibility.” He had one season remaining on his deal, which carried a cap hit of $3.75 million.

The veteran won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks after being dealt to the club at the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline. He signed back on with the Coyotes in free agency shortly after.

Vermette scored 17 goals and added 21 assists in 76 games with the Coyotes in 2015-16. He has registered a total of 211 goals and 260 assists for 471 points in 910 career regular season games with the Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Blackhawks and Coyotes.
