Emerson Etem back in Anaheim as Ducks claim him off waivers

Emerson Etem notched the game winner for the Vancouver Canucks against his former team the Anaheim Ducks in their own rink, a rink where Etem had many good memories.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Forward Emerson Etem is returning to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks claimed their former first-round pick off waivers from Vancouver on Thursday.

Etem also is a Long Beach, California, native.

He was drafted by Anaheim in 2010, and he debuted for the Ducks during the 2012-13 season. He scored 31 points in 112 regular-season games for Anaheim, adding eight points in 23 playoff games.

But after three seasons of inconsistent play, Etem was traded to the Rangers in a deal for Carl Hagelin in June 2015. New York then traded Etem to Vancouver in January, and he scored 12 points in 39 games for the Canucks.

Etem agreed to a one-year contract worth $775,000 in June.

The Ducks also placed centre Joseph Cramarossa on non-roster waivers.
