Flames put goaltender Ramo on injured list, call up Ortio

Karri Ramo had to leave the game late in the third after getting taken down in the crease, clearing the way for Jonas Hiller to finish the game for the Flames.

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames have placed goaltender Karri Ramo on injured reserve and called up Joni Ortio from their American Hockey League team.

Ramo left Thursday’s game in San Jose in the third period with the score tied 5-5 because of a collision with Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi.

Jonas Hiller finished out the game, which Calgary won 6-5 in a shootout.

Ortio’s record in Stockton, Calif., is 9-9 this season with a goal-against average of 3.36 and a save percentage of .893. The Finn was 0-2 in four starts for the Flames at the beginning of this season.
