So what if there are just two meaningless games left in a disappointing season for Roberto Luongo’s Florida Panthers? The fresh start begins now — at least as far as masks are concerned.

Since being traded from Vancouver to Florida days prior to the NHL’s trade deadline in March, Luongo had been using his old mask design from when he was with Florida eight years ago.

On Thursday, Luongo — confirmed to be back in action at home against the Maple Leafs Thursday after missing one game due to injury — showed off his brand-new Panthers paint job.

A slick overhead racing stripe is offset by a splashy over-sized cat face on one side and a giant sun housing a “FP” logo on the other.
