Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek has been suspended two games for interference against New York Islanders defenceman Johnny Boychuk.
The incident in question occurred when Voracek elbowed Boychuk from behind during the third period of Saturday’s contest, a 5-2 win for Philadelphia. Voracek was assessed a five-minute major following the play, while Boychuk had to leave the game following the collision and did not return.
In 66 games this season, Voracek has registered 18 goals and 43 assists, which ranks him third on the team in points with 61.
Philadelphia is currently five points out of the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, trailing Columbus and Montreal, who both have 79 points.
