Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee has been suspended three games for a late hit on Mathieu Perreault.
The hit in question occurred midway through the second period of Sunday’s game between the Flyers and Winnipeg Jets. After Perreault had moved the puck out of the corner, Farabee came in and delivered a late hit that sent the Jets forward to the ice.
Perreault was slow to get up and required assistance from his teammates to get to the bench before ultimately being ruled out for the remainder of the game with an upper-body injury.
Farabee was given a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct on the play.
After the game, Jets head coach Paul Maurice said Perreault was moving around, and would be evaluated again on Monday.
The 19-year-old Flyers winger has scored three goals and added eight assists in 26 appearances with Philadelphia this season, while also picking up 15 penalty minutes.
