Golden Knights sign Nicolas Roy to two-year contract extension

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward Nicolas Roy to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.

Roy will count $750,000 against the cap with his new deal.

In 28 games with the Golden Knights this season, the 23-year-old put up 10 points and added another 22 points in 27 games with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. The Amos, Que., native was acquired by the Golden Knights along with a conditional fifth-round draft pick in the 2021 NHL Draft from the Carolina Hurricanes in a trade for Erik Haula.

Roy was originally selected by the Hurricanes in the fourth round (96th overall) in the 2015 draft and helped the Charlotte Checkers win the Calder Cup in 2019, finishing in a tie for third on the team in scoring with 15 points in 19 games.
