Golden Knights winger William Carrier to miss Game 1 against Jets

Gene Principe previews the upcoming Western Conference Final, with two teams- the Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights- both prepped to make history, as neither team has made the Stanley Cup Final for far different reasons.

The Vegas Golden Knights will begin their third-round series without winger William Carrier, as the depth forward is set to miss Game 1 of his club’s series against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.

Head coach Gerard Gallant broke the news of Carrier’s status, according to Sportsnet’s Irfaan Gaffar.

Carrier has played in nine post-season games for Vegas in these playoffs, seeing limited minutes for the expansion side. He has zero points through those nine games so far, averaging just 7:59 minutes of ice time.

The former Buffalo Sabre travelled with the team to Winnipeg after missing Game 6 of Vegas’ series against the San Jose Sharks, but remains out with an undisclosed injury.
