In a brilliant throwaway line from Sunday’s episode, “Covercraft,” Homer gives Lisa this spooky NHL history lesson about the demise of the Quebec Nordiques:

Not-so-fun fact: Now in its 26th season, The Simpsons — America’s longest-running sitcom — has lasted three seasons longer than the Nordiques (1972-1995).
