Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin scored his 1000th career NHL point with a goal against the Florida Panthers Friday.
Sedin reached the milestone in his 1213th game, his current career points-per-game rate is 0.82.
His twin brother Daniel sits at 968 career points scored in 1190 games for a nearly identical 0.81 points per game.
Fittingly, the goal came against former teammate — and former Canucks captain — Roberto Luongo. Sedin could be seen patting Luongo on the head after the milestone.
The 36-year-old Sedin is in his 16th NHL season, all with Vancouver. He has 233 goals and 767 assists in 1,213 career games.
Henrik’s best season came in 2009-10 when he scored 83 assists and 112 points in 82 games. He and Daniel entered the league in the 2000-01 season after being selected second- and third-overall at the 1999 NHL draft.
After four straight seasons with 42 points or less to start his career, Sedin really took off in the 2005-06 season when he began a stretch of seven straight seasons with 75 points or more, only interrupted by the 48-game, lockout-shortened season of 2013 when he scored 45 points in 48 games.
In eight of his career campaigns, Sedin recorded 50 assists or more.
