Washington Capitals netminder Braden Holtby will miss Game 2 of their best-of-seven series with the New York Islanders because of an illness.
This is obviously bad news for the Capitals as Holtby set a franchise record for wins (41) and made a league-leading 72 starts over the course of the season.
Starting in his place will be Philipp Grubauer, who made just one start this season, allowing two goals on 25 shots in a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
A fourth-round pick of the Capitals’ in 2010 has made just 20 starts in his career, going 7-6-5 with a .920 SP and a 2.44 GAA over three seasons in Washington.
