While the Stanley Cup Playoffs are right around the corner, the KHL’s post-season is in full swing and it’s getting heated.
Avangard Omsk took a 3-1 series lead over Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the league’s Eastern Conference final Thursday, but not before a line brawl broke out between the two teams just prior to the final horn.
The main event featured Ufa’s Eduard Gimatov and Omsk’s Mikhail Fisenko trading haymakers as Daniil Skorikov of Ufa threw down with Semyon Koshelev of Omsk and Ufa blueliner Alexei Semenov beat up on Omsk’s Nikita Pivtsakin.
All told, the PIMs doled out in the final two seconds of the game were rather substantial.
NHL fans might recognize some of the other players that suited up in the game. Linus Omark and Alexander Burmistrov are Ufa, while Cody Franson, Viktor Stalberg (who fought earlier in the game), David Desharnais and Max Talbot are all on the Omsk team coached by Bob Hartley.
Omsk can close out the series Saturday to book its first trip to the Gagarin Cup final since 2012.
