Hurricanes acquire Bergeron from Lightning

Marc-Andre Bergeron had five points in 12 games for the Lightning this season.

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron from the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday in exchange for Adam Hall and a seventh-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

“Marc-Andre is a skilled, veteran defenseman who has made a good career out of helping teams on the power play,” Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said in a press release.

Bergeron, 32, has five points in 12 games for the Lightning this season.

Hall returns to a Lightning team that waived him two weeks ago. The 32-year-old has played in 26 games with the Hurricanes and Lightning this season, registering four assists and 23 penalty minutes.
