The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenceman Chase Priskie to a two-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $832,500.

The deal is worth $70,000 per season at the AHL level, and Priskie will receive a signing bonus of $185,000.

“Chase was one of the best defensemen in college hockey last season,” Hurricanes president and general manager Don Waddell said in a team release. “We believe he has a bright future in the NHL, and we’re thrilled that he has chosen to come to Carolina.”

Priskie, 23, was drafted in the sixth round (177th overall) in 2016 by the Washington Capitals but didn’t come to terms on an agreement with the team, becoming a free agent on Aug. 15. The Pembroke Pines, Fla., native is coming off a 39-point season with Quinnipiac University in 2018-19, his fourth year at the school.
