The Carolina Hurricanes have signed 2019 first-round pick Ryan Suzuki to a three-year, entry-level contract. The contract will pay Suzuki $832,500 at the NHL level and includes a $277,500 signing bonus.

“Ryan is a skilled centre with strong playmaking ability,” said general manager Don Waddell in a statement. “He’s an exciting young player, and we believe he has a bright future in the NHL.”

Suzuki, 18, scored 25 goals and 75 points in 65 OHL games with the Barrie Colts last season, where he was also an alternate captain.
