The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Petr Mrazek to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
“Petr brings a lot of experience for a young goalie,” Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said in a team release. “We expect to have healthy competition for the starter’s crease this fall.”
The 26-year-old netminder split last season between the Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers. Mrazek was dealt to Philadelphia ahead of the trade deadline, going 6-6-3 with a 3.22 goals-against average and .891 save percentage.
Mrazek is 78-64-23 in his NHL career, holding a 2.66 goals-against average and .911 save percentage along with 14 shutouts over six seasons with the Red Wings and Flyers.
