How Coburn trade gripped late-night Twitter

Coburn was dealt to the Tampa Bay Lightning early on Monday.

Hockey Twitter had a late night before Monday’s trade deadline, and Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston had a little something to do with that.

After 1 a.m. ET Monday morning, Johnston was insistent that hockey fans shouldn’t go to bed because something was “about to go down.”

The hockey world was immediately drawn to their refresh buttons as they were waiting for Johnston to break the news.

Around 1:40 a.m., Johnston broke the news on two trades — both of which involved the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Maybe Lightning GM Steve Yzerman was in on the charade.
