Don’t tell Jaromir Jagr he’s over the hill.
The NHL legend and future Hall of Famer is still competing at the ripe old age of 47 and on Friday he scored a highlight-reel goal for his hometown Kladno Knights in Czech Republic’s second-tier league.
Jagr might not be quite so fleet-footed these days, but he can still wheel when called upon and his puck protection skills and nose for the net remain impressive.
He opened the scoring five minutes into Friday’s game against the Chomutov Pirates, then potted the go-ahead goal thanks to this great individual effort in the third period.
Jagr’s team, of which he is president and co-owner, won the game 3-1. The victory moved Klando one step closer to rejoining the Extraliga, the top-tier Czech league. Klando was relegated back in 2014.
Following the game, Jagr told reporters he wanted to remind young people what he is capable of.
Jagr hasn’t suited up in the NHL since January 2018 after the Calgary Flames placed him on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his NHL contract.
