Oilers’ Jesse Puljujarvi scores in debut for Finnish club Oulun Karpat

Mark Spector joined Sportsnet Central to talk about Jesse Puljujarvi returning home to play and updated on the Connor McDavid situation.

Jesse Puljujarvi didn’t waste any time getting off to a strong start in his return to Finnish club Oulun Karpat.

Puljujarvi started things off by scoring a one-timer from the slot, off a pass from Mika Pyörälä, just 2:42 into the game. The 21-year-old later added an assist and finished the game with a team-leading six shots during his 15:15 minutes of ice.

Oulun earned a 3-1 win in the end to earn their first Champions Hockey League victory of the season. The Finnish club is in Group E with Grenoble, SC Bern and Skellefteå AIK.

The Edmonton Oilers‘ 2016 fourth-overall pick signed with Oulun after expressing his desire to move on from the Oilers, according to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector. His current deal with his new club includes a clause which would allow him to return to the NHL before Dec. 1.

In 139 career NHL games with the Oilers, Puljujarvi posted 17 goals and 37 total points.
