The Winnipeg Jets have activated goaltender Steve Mason from injured reserve, the team announced on Monday.
In a corresponding move, Eric Comrie has been reassigned to the Manitoba Moose.
Mason was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 27 after the team announced that he suffered a concussion during a game against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 25.
The 29-year-old has appeared in just eight games for the Jets this season and has recorded a .904 save percentage and 3.45 goals-against average while going 2-4-1.
The Jets signed Mason to a two-year contract with an annual average value of $4.1 million during the off-season. The Jets have struggled in the goaltending department during years past, something that management hoped would be fixed with the Mason signing, but it’s been 24-year-old Connor Hellebuyck who has claimed the starting role and led the Jets to 17-8-5 overall record.
Winnipeg next plays on Monday night against the Vancouver Canucks.
