Jets’ Blake Wheeler says a parking lot would be better than Panthers’ ice

Michael Haley broke a third period tie with his second goal of the season and the Florida Panthers defeated the Winnipeg Jets.

Some people would consider traveling from Manitoba to Florida in December a vacation.

But for Winnipeg Jets‘ captain Blake Wheeler, the experience wasn’t as enjoyable.

After the Jets lost 6-4 to the Florida Panthers on Thursday, Wheeler had some harsh criticism over the condition of the ice surface.

Yikes.

At least the game was played. In the past year, a few teams have had games cancelled or postponed due to poor ice conditions, including the Arizona Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes.

Poor Wheeler will have to hang around sunny Florida for a couple more days. The Jets play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday (where hopefully the ice is better), before returning to the frozen tundra for a home game Monday against the Vancouver Canucks.
