Jets’ Burmistrov fined for elbow to Wild’s Spurgeon

NEW YORK – The NHL has fined Winnipeg Jets forward Alex Burmistrov US$4,166.67 for elbowing Minnesota Wild defenceman Jared Spurgeon during a game on Sunday.

The amount is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the NHL Players’ Association.

The incident occurred at 13:11 of the second period of Winnipeg’s 5-4 win over the Wild. Burmistrov was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
