Jets’ Byfuglien fined for slash on Flames’ Gaudreau

Dustin Byfuglien's slash on Johnny Gaudreau's empty net goal earned him a $2,500 fine as the Jets lost to the Flames.

Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien has been fined $2,500 for a slash on Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau.

The incident occurred at 17:51 of the third period of Thursday’s 4-1 Calgary win when Byfuglien slashed Gaudreau around the left bicep moments before the Flames star completed a hat trick.

A penalty was called on the play. After the game, Gaudreau told assembled media that he was “fine.”
