Jets’ Mark Scheifele suffers head injury after collision in practice

Mark Scheifele scored a controversial overtime goal to help the Winnipeg Jets snap the Washington Capitals’ six-game winning streak.

Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after leaving Saturday’s practice with a head injury.

Scheifele collided with teammate Andrew Ladd, drawing blood, and was helped off the ice by his teammates.

“Looks like a couple stitches right now,” coach Paul Maurice told The Winnipeg Sun. “We’ll give it some time and see how he’s feeling [Sunday].”

Scheifele has 22 points (12 G, 10A) in 34 games this season. The Jets have lost four of their last five games and find themselves at the bottom of the Central Division.
