Jets’ Nikolaj Ehlers leaves game vs. Penguins with upper-body injury

Nikolaj Ehlers was injured early in the Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins game after Sidney Crosby stepped into him as Ehlers was following through on a shot.

Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers has left Friday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an upper-body injury.

The injury occurred on Ehlers’ first shift of the game when he collided with Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, and appeared to hurt his left shoulder. Ehlers immediately skated to the bench after the collision and looked in some discomfort. He returned for one more shift part way through the first period, then left the game for good.

Ehlers, 22, has 15 goals and 27 points in 39 games this season.
