Stempniak, 32, signed a one-year deal with the Rangers as a free agent this past summer. In 53 games this season, the veteran forward registered nine goals, nine assists, with a plus-7 rating. He has played 690 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Calgary Flames, Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, and St. Louis Blues.

Clingberg, 24, has spent the majority of the 2014-15 season with the AHL’s St. Johns Icecaps. The 34th overall pick (by the Atlanta Thrashers) of the 2009 NHL Draft recorded 15 goals in 51 games with St. John’s this year.

He has appeared in two games with Winnipeg in 2014-15.

The Rangers made a blockbuster trade earlier on Sunday, acquiring Keith Yandle, Chris Summers and a 2015 fourth-round pick from the Coyotes in exchange for forward Anthony Duclair, defenceman John Moore, and two draft picks.
