Samberg, 21, was drafted 43rd overall by Winnipeg in 2017. The Hermantown, Minn., native spent the past three years with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, culminating in a career-best 2019-20 campaign that saw him post 21 points through 28 games from the Bulldogs’ blueline.
His Minnesota-Duluth squad claimed the last two NCAA Div. I championships, but had their 2019-20 effort cut short due to cancellations related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Samberg has also represented Team USA on two occasions, suiting up for the national team at the 2018 and 2019 world juniors, earning a bronze and a silver at the tournaments, respectively.
His contract with the Jets begins next season.
