The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Joona Luoto to a three-year, two-way contract with an average annual value of $758,300, the team announced Saturday.

Luoto, 21, has played the last three seasons with Tappara in Finland’s Liiga, tallying 21 goals and 17 assists in 129 career games with the club.

Luoto will have a familiar face to lean on during his transition to the NHL in the form of Patrik Laine. The pair were teammates on multiple occasions with Tappara, including on their U18 and U20 teams.
