Jets’ Trouba leaves game vs. Stars after big collision with Benn

Jacob Trouba exited the game after he struggled to leave the ice after a collision with Jamie Benn at the start of the 3rd period.

Winnipeg Jets veteran defenceman Jacob Trouba got the worst of a big collision with Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn and won’t return to Sunday’s game.

The incident occurred seconds after the opening faceoff of the third period as Trouba tried to stand up Benn at the blue line. Benn saw Trouba preparing to check him and braced himself for the blow.

The impact caused Trouba to fall to the ice and he struggled to get to the Jets bench as play continued.

The 24-year-old blueliner had three goals and 22 points in 51 games entering Sunday’s game.
