Johnny Gaudreau surprises 9-year-old with birthday FaceTime

The tragedy unfolding in Fort McMurray, AB is hitting Scottie Upshall and others in the NHL close to home, but there is hope with the outreach the area has received.

Patrik Laine isn’t the only hockey star who can make a lasting impression over FaceTime.

Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau surprised a young Flames fanatic this week with a FaceTime chat on his birthday.

Liam Watson, the proud owner of a Johnny Hockey figurine (not to scale), lost his home in the Fort McMurray fire.

So Gaudreau brightened his ninth b-day by sending him an autographed photo, an autographed puck, and — best of all — a one-on-one virtual chat. Very cool.

Johnny be good.
