Leopold’s daughter to be guest at NHL Awards

Jordyn Leopold spoke to a reporter about her happiness to have her father at home in Minnesota playing for the Wild.

On paper there was nothing particularly special about a trade deadline deal that sent veteran defenceman Jordan Leopold from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Minnesota Wild for Justin Falk and a fifth-round pick.

However, it turned out to be one of the feel good stories of the 2014-15 NHL season after Leopold’s daughter, Jordyn, wrote a heartfelt letter asking that her dad be traded that went viral.

The NHL hasn’t forgotten this and Leopold announced Monday on FOX-9 Sports Now in Minnesota that his daughter will be a guest presenter and hand out the General Manager of the Year award at the NHL Awards this week in Las Vegas.

Leopold is a pending unrestricted free agent that says he hopes to re-sign with the Wild.
