Kings’ Doughty meets hockey doppelgänger, missing teeth and all

In the latest installment of his Photographic Memories series, Sportsnet's Donnovan Bennett caught up with Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty to look at old photos from some of his most memorable career moments.

He’s missing a couple chiclets, has lengthy lettuce and some fantastic flow up top, and already sports a playoff beard despite it only being mid-October.

Drew Doughty looks like a hockey player.

He also happens to look just like a specific hockey player from the University of Ottawa.

The star blueliner and his Los Angeles Kings are in Ottawa for a Saturday afternoon game against the Senators, and the team spent Friday at the Minto Sports Complex for an off-ice training session.

That’s where Doughty met Ottawa Gee-Gees forward Kevin Domingue and Kings reporter Patrick O’Neal of Fox Sports West was there to snap a photo of the pair.

Pretty close, no?

If nothing else, Domingue can simply slip on a Doughty jersey and he’s got a pretty solid Halloween costume.

When it comes to how they play hockey, though, their similarities end at their looks. Doughty is a future Hall of Fame defenceman while Domingue was never drafted. The 22-year-old Laval, Que., native played parts of three seasons with the Sherbrooke Phoenix before spending one year with the Whitecourt Wolverines in the AJHL. Domingue is in his third season with the Gee-Gees.
