Winnipeg Jets rookie sensation Patrik Laine has been great all season on the ice, and earlier this week he proved he can be great off the ice as well.
The 18-year-old may be out for the foreseeable future with a concussion, but that didn’t stop him from making a young Jets fan’s birthday wish come true.
On Christmas, now eight-year-old Lucas Bydak wrote to Laine, personally inviting him to his eight birthday party in January.
Lucas’ uncle, Marco, also a Jets fan, tweeted the letter to try to get the rookie sensation’s attention.
Unfortunately for Lucas, Laine was unable to make it to his actual birthday party.
However, Laine instead decided to drop by the boy’s house for a surprise visit a few days later with several gifts in hand.
The Finn brought a signed jersey, signed picture and chocolates from Finland as birthday gifts for Lucas.
The exchange went viral on Twitter, and another former Jets rookie sensation from Finland weighed in, as Teemu Selanne “liked” the photo of Laine and young Lucas.
It’s going to be tough for the Bydaks to top that birthday for a long time.
