TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Jerry D’Amigo to a three-year, entry-level contract on Wednesday.

A sixth-round draft pick in 2009, D’Amigo had a solid season with the NCAA’s R.P.I. Engineers last year.

"We’ve been very pleased with Jerry’s progression over the past 12 months," Leafs GM Brian Burke said in a statement. "Seth Appert and the rest of the coaching staff at R.P.I. have done a really nice job of preparing Jerry for the next stage in his development. We look forward to having him at training camp."

The 19-year-old D’Amigo had 34 points (10-24) in 35 games for the Engineers last season. The American was selected to the ECAC All-Rookie Team.

He also played for the U.S. at the world junior championship, tying for third in tournament scoring with 12 points.
