Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ilya Mikheyev has been released from a New Jersey hospital and is travelling back to Toronto three days after sustaining a scary wrist injury vs. the New Jersey Devils, according to Sportsnet‘s Chris Johnston.

Mikheyev had successful surgery to repair an artery and tendons in his wrist that were severed after being cut by Jack Hughes’ skate during the third period of the team’s 5-4 win over the Devils on Friday.

The 25-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, but will be sidelined at least three months.

He has 23 points in 39 games this season.
