Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier had successful hand surgery Monday in Cleveland and his timeframe for a return is 4-5 weeks.
The procedure, which was performed at the Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Tom Graham, revealed an unstable fracture in his hand. It was fixated with a plate and screws to properly stabilize the fracture and promote optimal healing.
Lecavalier sustained the injury on Nov. 11 against the Washington Capitals. The initial prognosis was that he would be out 3-4 weeks.
He has been placed on injured reserve.
