Lightning’s Point expected to miss start of season following hip surgery

Tim and Sid react to Brayden Point’s new deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning and how it compares to other RFAs.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are expected to be without their newly re-signed star for the start of the 2019-20 season.

As reported by Lightning writer Bryan Burns, Brayden Point — who agreed to terms on a three-year, $20.25-million contract with the Lightning on Monday — is still recovering from hip surgery and is currently on pace to be cleared to play by late October.

Point underwent the procedure this past spring and has already been skating for several weeks, per Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois.
